Product Specifications
The full-featured and flexible ST200 is ideally
suited for a range of
service provider and carrier applications.
Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC)
The ST200 offers compelling value for RBOCs seeking to cost-effectively
expand their presence into the long distance (LD) data services
market via a single multi-service platform deployed in strategic
locations to interconnect LATAs. The ST200 delivers investment
protection through low initial capital investment and ongoing
operations costs, as well as the flexibility to evolve with changing
service requirements. The ST200 includes the QoS and connection
management required to reliably offer ATM or Frame Relay services,
as well as the scalable routing required to offer IP-based services
such as Internet and IP VPNs. The ST200 allows RBOCs to offer
any service over any interface at any speed while evolving as
customer requirements change. And the ST200 provides the high
availability and reliability required for mission-critical carrier
data services. Together, these features give RBOCs the power to
offer any type of data service from a single ST200.

Inter-exchange Carrier (IXC)
IXCs face declining voice revenues and intensified competition
in a rapidly changing market. The ST200 enables IXCs to aggressively
counter challengers via an efficient data service delivery infrastructure
from which they can offer enhanced data services. By integrating
the ST200 into strategic POPs, IXCs can realize a range of advantages
with minimal capital investment. Legacy equipment is leveraged,
while new services are enabled. The penalties for imperfect capacity
planning and service transitions go away. Profitable, scalable
services such as IP-enabled Frame Relay are now possible. No longer
are IXCs limited by the capabilities of existing data service
delivery equipment. Any type of data service can be offered at
any speed over any type of customer access network, giving IXCs
the flexibility to offer compelling services in the most efficient
way possible.
Internet Service Provider (ISP)
With the ST200, ISPs can expand their service portfolio beyond
Internet access to include a complete range of switched and routed
services such as ATM, Frame Relay, Ethernet and VPNs over a common
IP or MPLS backbone. Sophisticated ST200 traffic classification
and rate limiting features enable ISPs to offer retail and wholesale
services from a single edge platform, while robust BGP policy
accounting enables providers to align service offerings
with cost structure. The result is increased efficiency and profitability
via a complete service portfolio that enables ISPs to cost-effectively
attract new customers while retaining existing customers.
Postal,Telephone and Telegraph (PTT) Agency
PTTs seeking to tactically expand their service portfolio while
strategically investing in a more efficient, long-term multi-service
packet-based infrastructure can realize significant benefits with
the ST200. Using the ST200, PTTs can provide countrywide long
haul data services, offering customers Ethernet access interfaces
(with or without VLANs) for a point-to-point service with service
level guarantees or high-demand, high-growth services such as
IP VPNs and Internet transit. By breaking the bond between service
and interface speed, the ST200 allows PTTs to provide higher-speed
options for existing ATM and Frame Relay services, expanding customer
choices as bandwidth demands increase.
Broadband Service Provider
Broadband connectivity is rapidly gaining popularity in both the
consumer and business arenas. However, traditional BRAS devices
lack the scalability, QoS capabilities and integrated routing
and switching required to deliver a wide range of broadband services.
With the ST200, broadband service providers can evolve beyond
basic Internet service to sophisticated services such as IP VPNs
over broadband access networks that can immediately begin impacting
revenues. The ST200 is dramatically more scalable than existing
BRAS devices, critical as more business and consumer users adopt
ever-increasing rates of broadband connectivity. Robust Service
Separation and Blending (SSB) enables the delivery of high-value
services with guaranteed QoS, as well as integrated routing for
complete and reliable content delivery. For the consumer market,
providers can use SSB to deliver new services such as network
gaming and video on demand alongside Internet. For corporate customers,
the ST200 allows broadband providers to offer flexible services
such as voice over IP and private IP networks
with guaranteed delivery.
