    Gigabit Ethernet PHY Cards

For the ST200 Service Edge Router

Download Data Sheet

With its complete suite of Physical Interface (PHY) cards, the ST200 Service Edge Router delivers the widest range of interfaces, highest density and most diverse multi-service support available in an edge router.

ST200 Gigabit Ethernet PHY cards offer the highest Gigabit Ethernet density and bandwidth available on an edge router, with up to 128 interfaces per device at speeds up to 10 Gbps. This allows service providers to increase the number of customers deployed per router, accelerating return on investment, while
cost-effectively scaling to higher capacities. Tiered bandwidth support gives service providers the flexibility to increase customer
bandwidth in 10 Mbps increments.

Industry-Leading Density
ST200 Gigabit Ethernet cards provide industry-leading density, maximizing the number of revenue-generating ports per chassis. With a wide range of interfaces available today and more in the future, the ST200 enables carriers to focus their investment on revenue-generating customer ports, not router/switch interconnects.

About PHY Cards
ST200 PHY cards work in tandem with Network Processor Blades (NPBs), high-performance, distributed packet processing and forwarding cards. NPB cards perform hardware-based forwarding of traffic between interfaces on the router at wire speed, along with sophisticated Quality of Service (QoS) functions that are configurable per logical interface, including packet classification, filtering, policing, queuing, marking and shaping.

Advanced Ethernet Over MPLS Capabilities
ST200 Gigabit Ethernet PHY cards provide the following advanced Ethernet over MPLS capabilities:
· VLAN switching
· 802.1p <—> MPLS EXP mapping
· 4,096 distinct VLANs per port — an order of magnitude greater than most Ethernet switches, which typically support a maximum
of 1,024 or 4,096 VLANs per system
· Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS)

Key Features
· Hot-swappable architecture
· 802.1Q VLANs
· 802.1p prioritization
· 802.3x flow control
· Autonegotiation
· 802.3z
