Laurel Networks Expands Board of Directors
with Appointment of Ascend Co-founder Betsy Atkins and Former Juniper
Sales VP Don Pyle
November 18, 2003 - Pittsburgh, PA
Laurel Networks, Inc., the first provider of high-performance
service edge routers, today announced the appointment of Betsy
Atkins, president and CEO of venture capital firm Baja LLC, and
Don Pyle, an independent board member with over 20 years of sales
management experience in the telecommunications industry, to the
Laurel board of directors.
Ms. Atkins was a co-founder and director of Ascend
Communications, a maker of Internet infrastructure equipment,
where she played a key role in taking Ascend Communications public,
setting global strategies and growing the company to $5.4 billion
in worldwide sales before it was acquired by Lucent Technologies
in 1999 for $23 billion. Ms. Atkins currently serves on the boards
of directors of Polycom (Nasdaq: PLCM) and UTStarcom (Nasdaq:
UTSI).
Prior to joining the Laurel board, Mr. Pyle was
the vice president of North American Sales at Juniper Networks.
At Cisco Systems, he managed one of the largest regions in the
service provider division. He served in a similar capacity at
StrataCom prior to its acquisition by Cisco. Previously, Mr. Pyle
spent 10 years at Case Communications where he held sales and
sales management positions focused on the service provider market.
