Laurel Networks Showcases MPLS Carrier Services in Multi-vendor Interoperability Demonstration

Pittsburgh, PA - May 22, 2003 Laurel Networks, Inc., the first provider of high-performance service edge routers, today announced successful participation in the MPLS/Frame Relay Alliance Interoperability Demonstration. Conducted among 12 member companies at the University of New Hampshire's Interoperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) May 7-15, the event will be followed by a live multi-vendor demonstration at SUPERCOMM 2003. Laurel showcased MPLS carrier services including ATM, Frame Relay and Ethernet Layer 2 VPNs as well as IP VPNs on its award-winning ST200™ Service Edge Router.

"Laurel is a clear innovator in the development of MPLS-based service offerings. In 2001, we shipped the industry's first multi-service over MPLS solution to enable interworking between ATM, Frame Relay and Ethernet-connected sites and today offer the most scalable MPLS IP VPN solution," said Steve Vogelsang, Laurel Networks co-founder and vice president of marketing. "This latest event highlights the increasing adoption of MPLS-based services as carriers evolve to a common packet infrastructure."

About the MPLS/Frame Relay Alliance Interoperability Demonstration
The MPLS/Frame Relay Alliance will be conducting the first live public multi-vendor interoperability demonstration of Frame Relay, ATM and Ethernet Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS) over MPLS at SUPERCOMM 2003 in booth #10315, Hall C. Alliance members will also demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability of Fast Re-Route (FRR), Layer 2 point-to-point Ethernet Services and Layer 3 RFC 2547bis VPN operation. The Alliance is an international industry organization that is advancing the recognition and acceptance of MPLS and Frame Relay technologies in the global telecom industry. Additional information about the Alliance and the demonstration is available online at http://www.mplsforum.org or http://www.frforum.com.
