Laurel Networks Showcases ST50 Service Edge Router with New Interface Cards at MPLS World Congress 2005

Lower-cost platform supports interfaces for delivering voice, video, and high-speed Internet for residential and business users

February 15, 2004 - Paris - Laurel Networks, Inc. will demonstrate low cost solutions for carriers wanting to deliver new services, like video, voice and high speed data over DSL and T1/E1 circuits, at the MPLS World Congress 2005, here, this week. The demo-nstration, which will feature Laurel's ST50™ Service Edge Router equipped with the recently-announced 8-port10/100 TX Ethernet access card, will showcase Laurel's multicast and QoS capabilities over broadband. The platform offers access providers a way to cost-effectively deliver new, expanded services to consumer and business customers.

Laurel's ST50 platform offers low-cost, multi-service functionally including Internet routing, Layer 2 switching, broadband subscriber management, high availability and integrated service management. Recently introduced, three new miniPHY cards add T1/E1, DS-3, E3 and 10/100 TX Ethernet access interfaces to the ST50 platform, enabling the delivery of new services such as VoIP (Voice over IP), IP VPNs and broadband Internet access through IP DSLAMs (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexers), ATM DSLAMs and traditional T1 or E1 circuits. The cards expand the existing ST50 miniPHY family, which includes AnyService on AnyPort @ AnySpeed™ SONET/SDH and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.

The new cards include:

• An 8-port channelized T1/E1 card that provides NxDS-0, T1/E1 and NxT1/E1 interfaces with Frame Relay and PPP encapsulations and integrated support for reliable low jitter, low latency VoIP transport.

• A 4-port clear channel DS-3/E3 card that supports Laurel's AnyService on AnyPort @ AnySpeed technology, including ATM for direct termination of ATM-based DSLAMs for delivery of commercial and residential VoIP, video, IP VPN and Internet services over DSL.

• An 8-port 10/100 TX Ethernet card that provides Ethernet interfaces for growing metro Ethernet services such as VPLS (virtual private LAN service) and IP DSLAM termination with the QoS required for VoIP, video, IP VPNs and Internet services.
