ECI Telecom Introduces Policy Management Platform that
Lowers Cost of Provisioning Business & Residential IP
Networks
ShadeTree Management Suite speeds
service deployment while reducing complexity
ECI Telecom has introduced its ShadeTree
Management Suite (ShadeTree MS), giving broadband service
providers the ability to easily deploy both residential and
business services with a minimum of operational overhead.
A powerful, open service provisioning and policy management
system, ShadeTree MS reduces the time and costs associated
with deploying both Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs and on-demand,
triple play services. By offering subscriber self-management,
automating the configuration of network elements, simplifying
service definition, and accelerating new service deployment,
ShadeTree MS allows carriers to lower the costs of adding
new services to their portfolios. To

Services with ECI Telecom Data Networking Division's ST200
Edge Router for IPTV solutions
The only edge router to support
all carrier packet services over a single platform, the ST200
also offers support of a variety of Ethernet densities. These
features along with the ST200's scalability convinced three
new US carriers -- Ringgold Telephone Company of Georgia,
Missouri-based River City Internet Group, and SDN Communications
of South Dakota - to switch to the ECI edge router platform.
Ringgold Telephone Company, established in 1912 in Catoosa
County, is a 14,300-access line local exchange service provider.
The company is the first publicly-announced customer to use
ECI's ST200 platform to support is interactive entertainment
and IPTV video services over DSL.
"We selected ECI Telecom's edge router to reduce costs
and enhance our network in this competitive marketplace, enabling
us to offer our customers interactive entertainment, such
as IPTV, along with new IP-based services like VoIP,"
said Tommy Holcombe, vice president of engineering at Ringgold
Telephone Company. "We also required a network infrastructure
that guaranteed wire-speed performance, QoS, and low-latency.
ECI's ST200 multi-service edge router makes this possible."
Replacing multiple vendors' equipment in the Ringgold network,
ECI's ST200 platform was added and configured with a 16-port
Gigabit Ethernet card and OC-12 cards. Managing ST200-based
networks is made easy through the use of ShadeTree Management
Suite, ECI Data Networking Division's provisioning and management
system.
River City Internet Group, a Missouri corporation, chose
ECI's ST200 as the edge router platform to consolidate its
switching, routing and subscriber management. River City represents
eight unique operating companies that deliver IP based services
enabling residential, enterprise and carriers with front office
and backend connectivity and management technologies.
River City selected ECI's broadband
platform for its high bandwidth-per-subscriber, advanced QoS,
and carrier-class availability. The platform's integrated
routing and switching features provide complete and reliable
broadband service delivery. The ST200's scalability and flexibility
will support River City Internet Group's current needs as
well as future growth in capacity and services across multiple
access technologies.
"The ST200's ability to customize features to address
our specific needs and those of our customers, along with
ECI's excellent implementation support, helped seal the deal,"
said Chris Malone, VP Network Operations, River City Internet
Group. "ECI was able to prove that consolidation to the
ST200 was not only possible, but economically feasible, and
it will give us an invaluable edge over our competition."
Headquartered in Sioux Falls, SDN Communications and the
cooperative, municipal and private telephone companies of
South Dakota, operate a 5,000-mile statewide fiber optic network.
SDN chose the ECI ST200 to enable smooth migration to an advanced
IP/MPLS network. Already operational, the new network allows
SDN to offer customers a range of quality-assured data services,
including Virtual Private Networks. It also provides an ideal
platform for SDN to eventually migrate other services to the
network -- including voice and video -- for cost and operational
efficiencies. Additionally, SDN selected ECI's ShadeTree
Management Suite provisioning system to provide an easy-to-use,
integrated service management system for the network.
"Equipment installation was
completed in early June and we're already seeing incremental
revenue opportunities," said Mark Shlanta, chief executive
officer of SDN Communications. "ECI Telecom provided
a solution that will enable SDN to expand its Triple Play
services from our baseline offerings and grow revenue more
rapidly."
