Light Reading, the global site for optical networks, appointed Laurel Networks (now ECI Telecom's Data Networking Division) to the number one position on its Top Ten Private Companies List. "Laurel Networks Inc. smashes its way straight to the top of our new Top Ten Privates list based on its traction with customers…The product is out, the company has some customers, and it's in a market that's ripe for development: edge routing services. The No. 1 spot implies many expectations for the technology down the road. Laurel's got the goods."

Prior to its acquisition by ECI Telecom, the Data Networking Division was selected as a 2003 Comet award winner by Communication Systems Design magazine. "Laurel Networks (ECI's Data Networking Division) has become a key player in the edge router market," said Patrick Mannion, editor-in-chief of Communication Systems Design magazine. "In the past year, the company has added significant functionality to its flagship ST200 Service Edge Router, acquired multiple service provider customers and forged strategic partnerships with key vendors."

Before becoming part of ECI Telecom, the Data Networking Division was declared the edge router of choice in Light Reading's December 2002 Edge Router Test, the most comprehensive independent edge router test ever conducted. The nine-month evaluation was performed by independent test facility Network Test using the largest edge router test bed ever implemented. The edge router evaluation tested the scalability of BGP, OSPF and IS-IS protocols to unprecedented levels and included the largest independent evaluation of Layer 2 and Layer 3/IP VPN performance. Additional tests conducted included throughput/latency, failover/resiliency and QoS enforcement.

"We chose Laurel Networks (now ECI Telecom's Data Networking Division) as a Telecommunications magazine Hot Start-Up for 2002 because it takes edge routing to the next level. The ST200's flexible interfaces enable any port and any service at any speed allowing service providers to grow their networks as demand dictates. The LPS is a strong multiservice-over-MPLS provisioning system for a range of services including ATM, Frame Relay and Ethernet as well as Layer 2 and IP VPNs."
